My Deep freezer died on Good Friday. I troubleshot down to the front display control board. My digital display was showing miscellaneous LEDs on the panel but temp not going up nor down. I could cycle thru the LEDs and occasionally a 6 or an 8 would appear but thats all. Internal light works. Easter Sunday the new part arrived. I removed the old and swapped in the new Control Assy. The High Temp LED lit red, the digital panel went to 5 and the compressor immediately turned on. I checked back in two hours and my ice pack was already frozen. This was AWESOME!!!!!

The media could not be loaded.
 Like so many others here, a power outage completely killed my Kenmore freezer. No sound at all was coming from the thing. I thought for sure I would have a costly replacement. Did a bit of research and found that there is a high likelihood this was all that was needed. With Amazons easy return policy, I figured I had nothing to lose by giving it a try.

The posts that say 5 minute install are exaggerating in my opinion. It took no longer than 2 minutes! I am including a video just so you can see how absurdly easy this is. You don't even need the tool shown in the video, any metal spatula will do the trick, as it pops out so easily! If you can plug in a USB thumb drive, you have all the experience needed for this.

It instantly fixed my freezer. When I plugged it back in, it was humming exactly as if nothing had ever been wrong. It is crazy to me that a mere temperature controller could render the entire freezer as silent as the grave, but all is well that ends well!

My Kenmore freezer 970-254221 either not freezing (food got defrost), or kept running (reaching lower than -20 degree centigrade). The temperature sensor was tested good. After the control board is replaced, freezer is now back to good working condition. The control board is very easy to replace, by using a slot screw driver. However, The control board is very expensive, $70. I was hesitate if it was worthwhile to repair it. Hopefully this control will last for 5-10 years.
