More bone mass (bone density) - the stronger the bone. It is influenced by genetic factors, environmental factors and medicines. Men have greater bone density than women. Afro-Americans have a higher bone density than white or Asian Americans.

Bone density accumulates till the age of 25 from childhood and maintained a decade. Then 0.3% to 0.5% of their bone mass per year is reduced as part of the aging process.

Estrogen is important for maintaining bone density in women. When rates decline of estrogen After menopause estrogen levels decrease and bone loss accelerates.
